Ok, so I'm sitting around the house, bored, and I decided that I'd throw something new out there for our forums. "Some of my favorite things!"
So, here goes:
#1. SW:ToR -- www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=184247&highlight=smuggler%27s+language
This thread is for learning Smuggler-speak in the Old Republic. It's basically just a code-language that you can get your nerd on with other nerds over. Example: "Let's deal the cards," means "Lets talk in smuggler code." Also, "Aunt" or "Uncle" refers to Jedi. "Grandpa/grandma" would be the Jedi Council. "the Lot" is Korriban (a Sith world).
So a conversation could go like this: "Lets deal the cards." (lets talk in code) "Ok. I'm just flipping coins out here in the black. You?" (I'm bored sitting in space. you?) "Well, Grandpa asked me to run down to the lot with aunty. He thinks it'd be good for the old lady." (The Jedi council ordered me to go to Korriban with a Jedi on some mission for the Republic) Short conversation, I know, but my skills with Cant are still very rudimentary.
#2. Web comics:
1. www.nuklearpower.com - Home of 8-Bit Theater (a comic based on the orginal Final Fantasy for Nintendo) where Black Mage (psychotic/inept chaos-bringer and evil-doer), Fighter (ADD dual-sword wielding warrior), Thief (cleptomaniac/trickster), and Red Mage (gender-confused Min/Max ftw!) are phoney Warriors of Light who everyone else thinks are trying to save the world. When I first read through this web-comic, I would laugh out loud every five minutes or so. When Cloud from FF7 makes a guest appearance and summons a chocobo, it's just hilarious.
It's also the home of "Atomic Robo" (funny robot adventure comic book with some sneak peaks on this website), and How I Killed Your Master (very un-even update schedule due to various technical difficulties, but lovely art and a solid story).
2. lfgcomic.com - Looking For Group. A comic that pokes fun at WoW and all things fantasy. Check 'em out on YouTube, too.
3. leasticoulddo.com - about an irrepressable, unapologetic, irreverant sex addict named Rain and his assorted friends. This one is quite off-color from time to time, so be warned. But it's still often hilarious (their recent Sunday comics remind me of what Hasmatt must've been like as a child...).
4. xkcd.com - nerd humor via stick figures! I *love* it! Thanks to Aarvik for introducing this one!
Like I said, this is just something to keep me from being bored out of my mind, but you might want to check it out, and see what you think. Maybe I'll add a few of my favorite computer games/books/authors/vacation spots at a later time. Feel free to add to the list yourself!
