Well, now that I've been here for about a year, I guess I'll introduce myself. I started playing LOTRO because of Thor, whom I happen to be married to. I've been there in spirit since the Beta. My computer was waaaay too old to be able to take on LOTRO so I just watched while Thor played. I even had a character on his account - my burglar, Dewdrop. But, well, you've all seen how often he plays so I never got a chance to get her above six when she was on his account. Ok and also it may have had something to do with the fact that at the time, I was pregnant with our daughter and spent most of my time when I wasn't at work asleep on the couch, but either way, I was familiar with most of you before you all knew I existed (how stalkery!) from watching him play.
What finally decided me to get my own account was the Runekeeper class. They just looked like so much fun that I figured maybe it was time to play instead of watch. So, three days before the launch of Moria, I used his code for a 10-day free trial that came with his copy of Shadows of Angmar and created Merylwen. This is my first MMO and really one of my first video games at all. (I don't think Viva Pinata counts as a real video game and that's the only one so far I've finished on my own). I have a tendency to get frustrated when I don't know what's going on (which seems to happen to me a lot in this game, probably because of the aforementioned) and may as well share the Oftenlost name with Bayron, but I still have a lot of fun, and I think that has a lot to do with all of you in OA putting up with my frustration and giving me a hand.
IRL, I am a lowly peon working at Walmart. I wouldn't really use my job to define me though, tis only temporary. I am legally an Anthropologist (I have the paper to prove it) and spent two consecutive summers in Mongolia doing archaeology (that's how I met Thor, actually). We lived in tents a two-days' drive from the nearest "city" which would probably be defined as a one-horse town here. It's an interesting experience to go to a place that has no electricity, no running water, no walmart a half a block away So, well, that's me.
