I don't completely understand the process that this stuff is gong to use, myself, but I'll try to share what I've gleaned here. Legendary Items will be equippable onto our existing items. (Think the Materia system used in Final Fantsy VII, if you know that game. ) These Legendary Items are kind of blank slates until you find one of the new NPC's to find out its name. At which point it is no longer sellable on the AH, but it *can* be traded player to player (presumably, its attributes will be set in stone at this point). Level: Each item will have a level consistent with the standing level system, Yellow to Teal. Teal has the most equippable slots, and can provide greater buffs, but costs more to level up. Quality: Each item will have a degree of quality: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Again, gold costs more xp to level, but can go higher. So, the best combination might appear to be several Teal items of Gold quality... However, Purple items of Silver quality upgrade significantly faster. It might be advisable to equip several of these, and only one Teal/Gold. Once that's leveled up, add another Teal/Gold and keep the highest Purple/Silver items. As I said, I don't understand it exactly, myself. So, if I've gotten something wrong here, please let me know.

Well from what I've read from the preview of the Legendary system is this: We get out first Legendary weapon as part of the quest chain to beat the Watcher at lvl 51. Other Legendary weapons will be craftable but this will be how people get their first. A weapon cannot become legendary until it is recognized and is named (this is all part of the chain for the first weapon, and from what I've gathered any crafted legendarys will require a small quest arc from a specific NPC ... though it might turn out that once you do it once you can just have him name it). The weapon itself will lvl up as the player uses it, not as the player lvls per say. Basically the more things the weapon kills the more xp/lvls it gains. Every 10 lvls the weapon has to be reforged. When you first get the weapon it has a set of stats on it that can be boosted as it lvls, but when its reforged the player gets to chose exactly what the weapons attributes are. How the reforging takes place is yet to be revealed. The legendarys also have slots depending on their lvls to equip/slot gems/talismans whatever they are gonna be called into them to augment the weapon in some way. All of these items will be drop only. So between the reforgings, the slotting, and supposedly the "traits" that a legenday will have the weapon will be highly customizable. No word yet on if any aspects of the weapons looks will be customizable but its unlikely. That's everything I've been able to find out about the weapon legendarys so far. Haven't looked into anything regarding items yet so what you have Ted sounds good to me

didn't the interview on one of the game sites state that legendary weapons will be of all levels and quality? it gave the impression that legendary weapons will also be dropping / available to low level characters...it went on to describe the process of 'destroying' the weapons to acquire components to put into other weapons...(similar to augments in EQ)...

Hm, good question. The only interview I saw was the one describing Legendary weaps in relation to the watcher encounter and how Legendarys will be the only way to damage some of the boss' in moria.
I haven't seen anything on Weaps below 51 yet or their destructibility.
